- therapy, EMDR, tapping
- bodywork or trauma release techniques
- breathwork, meditation, or mindfulness apps
- cried buckets of tears, screamed, hit pillows or wrote letters
- tried to make the feelings stop
- told yourself, “I’m just too sensitive,” or “I shouldn’t be so upset.”
If you haven’t gotten the results that you thought you would, it just means there’s something else going on that’s deeper, older and below the surface – and it’s locking your feelings in place.
Here’s what I want you to know…
For over 37 years, I’ve worked with people every day who are struggling emotionally with Really Big, Life-Changing emotional things! Through my experiences, I’ve learned that healing often begins with a deeper understanding of oneself and one’s feelings.
And I know for sure that it’s NOT a bottomless pit.
You ABSOLUTELY CAN regain your emotional wellbeing, find your happiness, and enjoy your life again.
There’s a deeper reason why your feelings are getting stuck!
But it can be tricky to get down to the place where those feelings are stored, so you can heal and release them there.
When emotions get stuck and are persistent, it means that something important has been missed or is still waiting to be uncovered and understood.
The way you struggle with your feelings now often ties to the past.
And it can have a lot to do with what you were taught about your feelings when you were growing up.
Here’s what I mean…
When you felt emotional as a child you may have been told…
“You’re too sensitive.”
“Your anger is unacceptable.”
“Stop being a crybaby.”
“Toughen up. Big kids don’t cry.”
Or you may have gone through something really bad where you…
- didn’t feel loved, supported or protected
- felt frightened, scared and alone
- were put down, ridiculed, shamed or neglected
- had to deal with other people’s anger
- were screamed at or hit
- were violated and told not to tell
- were abandoned or neglected
As a result, you figured out a way to get through it — and you did the best you could under the circumstances.
And while that was a good thing then…
…it may be hurting you now.
Because you may…
- have learned how to stuff or shut down your real feelings
- pretend that everything’s okay so you don’t cause waves or stress anyone else out
- have become a people pleaser who takes care of everyone else
- be scared all the time. (you worry, obsess, and are always anxious)
- get mad at yourself, or think everything is your fault or that something’s wrong with you
- feel angry, agitated and continuously frustrated
- lack a good sense of self or feel bad inside about who you are
And if you’re also an Empath or Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), you may feel …
- like you’re an emotional sponge and you absorb other people’s feelings
- that some of your relationships drain you
- you need to withdraw and are alone much of the time
- a need to avoid groups and crowds
- like no one understands just how sensitive you are
- that there’s something wrong with you
Here’s what I’d like for you to know.
The unhealed, unprocessed emotions you may have tried to put behind you (or that you thought you had worked through) may be still affecting how you feel.
And these parts of your emotional past will cause a pileup of feelings now that makes everything feel more intense and painful.
The good news is…
You don’t have to feel out of control with
(or controlled by) your emotions anymore.
These painful feelings and emotional stress patterns that overwhelm you can be released and transformed permanently once you know where they’re really coming from and what they need.
Once you understand where and why your emotions are keeping you stuck — both in your current experience and from your past — you can finally release them.
As “buckets” of that old emotional heaviness are cleared, you will naturally feel better and more in charge of your feelings. (And because over 90% of all illnesses are caused by chronic emotional stress, you’ll be taking care of yourself long before it becomes a bigger problem with your health.)
