“I was in a devastating car accident Christmas 1999 and was airlifted to a trauma hospital for immediate surgery to re-inflate a crushed lung and pin my broken right knee and left leg. After 6 days in intensive care and a stay with my family I was finally able to return to my own home. I felt I was on the road to recovery and was headstrong about my belief that I knew everything. I continued to live my life in the same old way and as a result I re-broke my left leg femur bone and was back in the hospital in March.
